Casting alloy ingots, also known as sheets, is an important step on the way back to fine metals. Homogenising scrap metal is the first step in the long chain of a separation process lasting months.

Once the resulting ingots or melting pieces exhibit a uniform distribution of content materials, known as homogeneity, they can immediately be analysed by applying continued technology and assessed for remuneration. Thus, a customer of Aurum does not have to wait for weeks for his metal to be credited. The energy consumption and the application of the most elaborate casting and analysis technology is reflected, along with personnel expenditure, in the so-called separation costs. Without this expense the recovery of valuable raw material is not possible.

The platinum metals palladium, platinum, rhodium, iridium, and ruthenium, (osmium) make considerably higher demands on man and technology regarding smelting and analysis technique. Aurum Edelmetalle does not only accept high-quality scrap but can also reprocess low-grade scrap with precious metal contents between 2-10%, as long as the delivered weight is acceptable. Wherein: The lower the precious metal content the greater the delivered quantity has to be and the higher the separation effort will be.
